Today's Fox 10 Segment: Convenience Meals in a Jar

I always have an amazing time with my friends down at Fox 10 and today was no exception! We laughed so hard before they started taping that it almost kept me from being able to start talking!  What an epic team of good people who welcome me with smiling happy faces every time. I'm so thankful for all they do!  At any rate, here is today's segment on how to make homemade convenience meals in a jar.
The recipes  are here! The original post that started it all is here. I do many free public service classes to help educate folks on basic cooking skills. For more on my upcoming classes go here.

There you go! Oh...and don't forget to share these ideas with your friends and family!

My sister Emily did some wonderful pdf's for this tutorial and method, including an estimated price list, shopping list and recipe cards. Again, if you print or share these, you are required to include my contact information and website information. Thank you!

I have been trying to figure out meals my family will like that are easy to store. You are a genius. Thanks for sharing.

What is the first item on the ingredient list pdf? I just see "dried"

Freeze Dried bell pepper. I believe. My sister made the PDF but that's what I see missing.

I love this idea! I am nervous about putting the meals in glass jars, is there anything else they can be stored in?

Yes, You can use mylar bags (those are not the ziploc bags nor the bags that come with a Food Saver). The ones that are metalic. They can be used, but the shelf life on those needs to be tested. It's closer to 3-5 years on most of the mixes. Read some of the further posts I have on the meat and packing it. There are safety issues that need to be upheld.

on your excel spreadsheet for the "52 jar meals prices and amounts.xls (2) (1).pdf" the first line item only says "dried" but does not state what it is. I would like to know if that is possible.

Why is there no price on all the pasta on the price list?

I have no idea why there's not price on the pasta. I have never claimed perfection in any area and there you go. Proved it. Xoxo. Lots of love. You can use pasta from bags at the grocery store or from the #10 cans. I guess when my sister put this list together she left it open for that reason.
